Dermal fillers in Overland Park

Freshen your appearance with fillers at Leawood Family Care

At Leawood Family Care, we use dermal fillers to improve cheek contour and to reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds and lines around the lips and mouth for our patients in Overland Park. We can also use fillers to enhance the lips, create fuller lips, or correct asymmetry. Dr. Campbell operates the aesthetics department of Harmony Aesthetics MD within Leawood Family Care and uses dermal fillers from the Juvéderm® family.

The Juvéderm Voluma™ is injected in the cheeks to restore or improve the shape of the cheek and the volume and natural S curve of the cheek.

Voluma has also just been approved by the FDA to smooth and enhance the jawline. We use Juvéderm XC Ultra and Ultra Plus to fill the nasolabial fold area and lines on the lower cheeks and around the mouth. Volbella™ is the dermal filler that Dr. Campbell uses to treat the lips and also to treat the tear trough area.

Cosmetic and Therapeutic Botox Treatments at a Glance

  • Treatment Type

Dermal filler injections are performed only by Dr. Mary Ann Campbell

  • Procedure Length

Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the procedure can take 30 minutes to 1 hour. We ask that all clients arrive 30 minutes prior to their appointment for the application of topical numbing cream.

  • Conditions It Treats

Dermal fillers in Overland Park can treat loss of cheek volume, nasolabial lines, lines around the mouth, enhance lip appearance, and smooth and define the jawline.

  • Recovery Time

The results of your injections are immediate and continue to improve over the next 30 days. As with any injection, bruising can occur and will take around a week to resolve. Some clients will experience temporary redness of the skin at the site of injections or itching. These improve quickly within hours or a few days of treatment. To help minimize bruising, we suggest clients avoid alcohol and all ASA and ibuprofen-containing products for one week prior to treatment.

How it Works

How Botox Works

The substance in dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid (HA) can team up with your own collagen to increase support to the skin and smooth wrinkles.

Dermal fillers in Overland Park can also improve the appearance of pitted scars and add volume to the cheek and to the lips. The fillers used at Harmony Aesthetics MD all contain lidocaine to reduce discomfort at the injection site. We also like to apply a topical numbing agent about 30 minutes prior to the procedure to enhance the numbing effect of the lidocaine in the filler. As a result, we ask that you arrive 40 minutes ahead of your appointment time to complete paperwork and have the numbing cream applied.

Botox has also been used to treat excessive sweating under the arms and to relax the muscles of the jaw that cause TMJ and enlarged masseter muscles.

The number of units used varies between individuals and by the site of the treatment. Generally, men require more units of Botox than women. The sites of the upper face usually treated include the glabellar area (in between the eyebrows), the forehead, and the crow’s feet area.

Therapeutic Botox injections are also used to treat chronic migraines.

If you suffer from more than 15 headache days per month that last more than 4 hours, you may be a candidate for migraine botox treatments. Your insurance company requires the prior authorization of botox for chronic migraines, so please schedule an appointment with Dr. Campbell to discuss this procedure.
